I’m Not Slow, I’m Just Busy

Well, last time I knit socks it took me seven months, and I got a complex about being a slow sock knitter.  Now, however, I know that I’m not slow, I’m just busy – knitting an hour or so a day at the beach for a week (including ripping out and re-starting a couple of times), I got almost half a sock finished.  I mean, it’s not exactly speed knitting, but it’s a whole lot more progress than I expected, and it’s not like I was even ‘pushing’ to make a lot of progress – just a few rows here and there, sometimes an hour of knitting and sometimes just a few minutes, and I have this:

Manly Man Cabled Socks

It’s the Best Foot Forward pattern by Betsy McCarthy, published in Knit Socks!, and knit in Regia 4-fadig (4-ply) sock yarn on 2.25mm dpns.  That pic actually only shows part of the progress I made, since it was taken a couple of days before we left and I finished four or five more pattern repeats after this.  Since we’ve been back (came back this past weekend), I’ve not had time to knit a single stitch on it.  Nada, zip, zero, no progress, but this stands as my proof that I am a perfectly average knitter who only fails to make any knitting progress because she never has time to knit.  I actually look forward to spending time in waiting rooms now – and of course it’s just my luck that I have a dentist who’s never made me wait more than 2 minutes before calling me back!

Edited to add: Yes, I am aware that nobody cares but me. 😉

  1. You can call it slow, busy, or even distracted, but my preferred term is methodical (done to a systematic or established form of procedure)… Good Times!!
